General Information:
The Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) is a new program being offered under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). RALP’s objective is to accelerate the adoption of Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) that maximize provision of Ecological Goods & Services (EG&S), particularly increased carbon sequestration and enhanced climate resilience.
Funding is offered on a per-acre payment basis for a term of three years. The RALP opens for applications on April 3, 2023. To review the funding list and additional program details visit the RALP page on the Sustainable CAP website.

Eligible Applicants
- Primary producer responsible for day-to-day management and input costs of an agricultural operation (crop, bee, or livestock) and produce at least $25,000 worth of farm commodities annually.
- Groups such as Grazing Reserve Associations and Community Pastures.
- Approved Indigenous applicants (First Nation, Métis Nation, Inuit).
ALL applicants MUST have a current Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) certificate or letter that they will receive one before the end of the project term. The name on the EFP does not need to match the name on the grant application but must be for the same farm.
Funding
Funding is offered on a per-acre payment basis for a term of three years, split into two lump sum payments.
Primary Producers can receive up to $150,000.
Indigenous or groups such as Grazing Reserve Associations and/or Community Pastures can be eligible for up to $300,000 on select BMP projects.
Funding list and additional program details visit the RALP page on the Sustainable CAP website. Approved applicants will receive 50% payment in the first year, and 50% at the completion of the project.
FAQs
- Print application and sign, no digital signatures
- BMPs that have opportunity costs, they are automatically included in the calculation
- Public land projects require Public Land agrologist approval
- BMPs with ‘Impact Adjustment’ can choose if they want to include the impact adjustment, the maximum benefit will be 15%
- Application forms work best when downloaded from the RALP website rather than attempting to fill from a browser.
- Maps needed using air photos. Google earth or other program (see example below)
