Coop Extension Pilot Not Funded.

After over 3 years of work and investment and support from a broad range of agriculture associations, municipalities, commodity commissions, post secondary programs, agriculture businesses and farmers, the Coop Extension pilot has folded, at least for now.

On August 1, the working group announced the hiring of the interim Executive Director and the new Extension Alberta website.

By August 20, the working group announced that funding was not currently available to continue the project. “We recently received difficult news that funding is currently not available to continue our efforts to pilot an Alberta cooperative extension model. Although senior government officials complimented the Working Group for responding to the request for designing a compelling, world-class cooperative extension model with broad industry stakeholder support, financial support cannot be put in place. “
