This spring the ASB Provincial Committee is working with a facilitator with the Community Development Unit, for the Ministry of Arts, Culture and the Status of Women to update the 2020 strategic plan.
For the first time, this processes is being lead by the ASBPC and the Municipal Councils and Rural Municipalities of Alberta have been included as key stakeholders.
The link to the survey is being sent out by the ASBPC Reps to their Regional Chairs, and through the Secretary of the Alberta Association of Agriculture Fieldmen (AAAF) to all ASBs and through them to their municipal council.
Key stakeholders that the survey is being promoted to include:
- ASB members and staff,
- municipal councils,
- RMA and
- GOA ASB Program staff,
The survey is designed to support meaningful discussion about the role of ASBs, the role of ASBPC, local and provincial communication, and opportunities to strengthen alignment and collaboration across Alberta’s ASB system.
The survey is intended to gather individual perspectives and identify themes. It is not intended to create formal positions for any municipality, ASB, or organization.
This is the first time the ASBPC is leading strategic planning, and the first time the municipal councils and RMA have been identified as strategic partners. Survey will close June 30 and will help inform an in-person strategic planning session planned for August 2026.
It is recognized that many of the desired stakeholders have more than one role so the survey is designed to identify your various roles, and then answer from your personal perspective. You do not need to speak on behalf of a role or organization since the survey is open to everyone who participates in any of the identified stakeholder groups.
The information collected at the facilitated discussion at the conference is being summarized and pulled together into a report that will also contribute to the strategic planning discussion. This is an engagement survey so you will be asked for your email address so that the Committee can follow up with input from the long answer questions if needed.
Please contact the Agricultural Fieldman or the ASBPC Representative for your municipality to request a link to the survey or contact Linda Hunt, Executive Assistant to the ASBPC. asbpc_ea@agriculturalserviceboards.com
