The first official meeting of the new ASBPC occurred on November 22, 2021 in person at the Expo Centre in Edmonton just prior to the RMA conference.
Organizational meeting results:
Sebastian Dutrisac, councilor from Two Hills County and Northeast Region Representative was selected as Chair. Sebastian is the past president of the Association of Alberta Agriculture Fieldmen (AAAF) and AAAF representative to the ASBPC. The AAAF representative position remains open until the AAAF organizational meeting this December. Clifford Wowdzia, a Councilor for Minburn County is the Alternate for the Northeast Region.
Brenda Knight, Deputy Reeve from Lacombe County, and Central Region Representative was selected as Vice Chair. Brenda was previously the alternate ASBPC member for the Central Region. Kathy Rooyakkers, Deputy Reeve for Wetaskiwin County is the Alternate for the Central Region and a new member to the ASBPC.
Morgan Rockenbach, Councilor for Warner County remains the South Region Representative, and John Van Driesten, Councilor for MD of Willow Creek is the Alternate for the South Region and new to the ASBPC.
Christi Friesen is a producer at large member of the MD of Peace, and the Peace Region Representative. Robert Chrenek, Councilor for Grand Prairie is the Alternate for the Peace Region. Both Christi and Robert are new to the ASBPC.
Walter Preugschas, Councilor for County of Barrhead, and the Northwest Region Representative. Ross Bohnet, Councilor for Lac Ste. Ann County is the Alternate for the Northwest Region. Both Walter and Ross are new to the ASBPC.
Jane Fulton, Ag Fieldman for Mountain View County, and 1st Vice Chair of the AAAF remains the Secretary until AAAF organizational meeting this December.
All other representation on the ASBPC remains the same. Contact information for the Committee members and their appointments to represent ASBs on various committees can be found on the Current ASB Provincial Committee’s page on our website.
ASBs are encouraged to reach out to their regional representative to discuss all matters related to the active provincial resolutions. All active resolutions and official responses can be found on the website, and updates to activities since the official responses can be found in blog posts and summarized in the annual Report Card.
The organizational meeting was followed by meeting with Deputy Minister Shannon Marchand and Assistant Deputy Minister John Conrad.
